Gamefreak4ever
Hi my name is Keno, I am a 33 year old gamer. I’ve been playing video games since I was about 6 years old. Games have been that escape for me since I was young. I grew to have a true love for gaming as I became a teenager. Now at almost any point of the day I’m checking out current events, reading articles, new sites, retro sites, tweeting or playing video games. I’m a gamer who basically wants to be in the loop as much as possible. If I could take my brain and deep it in all aspects of gaming, I would.
I’m married to my beautiful wife Jenn of 12 years and my son Torrey who is 13 years old. They are very understanding and know at my core, a true gamer beats inside of me. I recently started my own YouTube channel dedicated to retro gaming, all the way to current gen gaming. You can also follow me on twitter @gamefreak4ever thanks and hopefully one day you can tell me why you’re a gamefreak!

PLATFORM NES, SNES, 360, and PS3 (currently)WHAT FIRST ATTRACTED YOU TO THE WORLD OF GAMING?
I believe it was the arcades. Nothing could match the feel about being in a place with a bunch of games surrounding you. It’s almost like today, waiting with anticipation for a new game to be released. Well, it felt the same with a new arcade game. Just waiting for my turn to come up. With the crowds of people circled around the game. It just added some much to the feel. I remember being able to play the game at home that you played at the arcade. The concept was unrealistic as a childWHAT WAS THE FIRST GAME YOU EVER PLAYED?
It was Super Mario Bros. at the local store. I was about 6 years old. I couldn’t even reach the game. This one guy gave me a stool to sit on. I played that game until I ran out of quarters.WHAT IS YOUR FONDEST GAMING MEMORY?
I have to say there is a tie when it comes to answering a question like that. The first one was the Christmas of 1992 when I got my first Super Nintendo. You have to understand I was what you would consider to be poor and I didn’t receive much at all. I had been asking like crazy to get one that year. I believe at the time I was 13. Yeah I remember waking up that Christmas morning and much to my surprise that system was under the tree! I know it was special because I feel that same feeling now. I must have beaten that game close to New Year’s Eve. I went back several times to uncover different secrets. Now the second one is somewhat of a goal. I’ve always wanted to work for a gaming company but after much research, realized I needed to be an artist, or graphic design and many other things. So I was watching GameTrailers TV one day, noticed some of the gaming companies was down here in Texas. I’m like great let me check for other positions. They had a position as a game tester at id and Gearbox. I applied for both. Months later Gearbox calls me. They extend an offer to test out one of their new games. I’m like what?! So I had an opportunity to go to Gearbox! I can’t explain how excited I was about that moment. They had all their games on display Borderlands, Duke Nukem, Brothers in Arms, Wolfenstein etc. Also seven other dudes were chose as well. Anyways they gave us temporary badges and took us to the break room. You had the option of getting any kind of candy, drink or snack you could think of. Now we moved to the testing room you could see these big gaming chairs and eight flat screens, headsets, 360 hooked up and ready to go. The guy reveals to us it’s the next Brothers in Arms game from the franchise! Of course we damn near pissed on ourselves. We played the game in single player then multiplayer. It was four vs. four. After everything was said and done we got Gearbox T-shirts and a chance to go to the next big gaming event.
WHAT’S YOUR WORST GAMING MEMORY?
I had been looking forward to the release of a game. It was going to be a third person shooter/RPG. Now the game had been delayed a couple of times. I was fine with that, at this point I have gotten use to games being delayed. I pre-ordered the game in advance so I could get the game on its release date. I put the game in and played it that day. I noticed some glitches and repetitiveness elements to it. All around just poor game play. The game was Alpha Protocol! To this day just to hear that name, sickens me to my stomach. I have never been as disappointed about a game as I was with this hot mess.HAVE YOU EVER TRIED ANY STUNTS (IN REALITY) WHICH YOU PICKED UP FROM A VIDEO GAME?
Well, growing up as a kid, my friends and I were into games pretty quickly. Super Mario Bros. had a big place in our hearts. In the area I lived in we had sewers, so we decided one day to pack lunches. We went down some of the darkest sewers to see where they would take us. We even did some running down the sewers, mind you no flashlights. It was crazy fun.IF YOU COULD BE ANY GAME CHARACTER IN THE WORLD, WHO WOULD YOU BE AND WHY?
Kratos, he reminds me of the warrior within all of us. What would you do if you were ever betrayed? Plus dude became a god! Also on a deeper level Kratos, is such a badass. Also he cared so much about his family that he was going to get revenge by any means necessary! That’s me at my core, I’m a family man.WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE GAME AT THE MOMENT?
Zelda A link to the past (SNES), it has fully captured my attention. This game reminds us why the game built such a serious fan base. Parts of the game have frustrated me but at the same time it’s rewarding.WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME?
God of War III, I considered this the buildup moment to such a great trilogy. I have every boss battle saved on my save files. It’s just so I can go back and play it over and over again. The game was so epic. It showed the true direction of technology, as to where it’s going.WHAT DO YOU THINK GAMING WILL BE LIKE IN THE FUTURE?
I believe we will be completely immersed in a game, almost in a realistic kind of way. You will be the character in the game. You will be able to see the environment all around in 3D form, no headset, nothing over your eyes. Completely voice controlled. It’s a lot to think about.ANY ADVICE FOR NEW GAMERS OUT THERE?
Don’t be so caught up in the current gen that you don’t appreciate the past generation of consoles/games. It has so much to offer. It’s brought us thus far. Any game you name now had its beginning with the 1st gen. There certainly some gems in the classics. Also don’t feel like you’re too old to start playing or too old to stop playing games. I won’t stop playing I will be a gamefreak4ever!
