Metal Gear Solid HD games releasing digitally soon

Konami announced today that they will be releasing the HD editions of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker as downloadable titles for various platforms in August and September.

The HD versions of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will be released via the Xbox 360 Games on Demand service on August 21, with Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker to follow a week later on August 28. Additionally, HD versions of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will follow for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in September via PlayStation Network, alongside the PlayStation 3 HD version of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

Unfortunately, it looks as if there’s no plan to introduce the HD version of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker to the PS Vita and there are is no word on the price of the games either.

This looks epic… I am totally getting this! Again, thanks Justin!

Most welcome, Sir! I think I’ll be getting them myself.

  • Phantoms_Heart

I really hate that with all those HD collections, all your time spent on unlocking things in the original versions is lost, since you can’t transfer your save file from the PS2 to a PS3 or 360. Getting all those stupid frogs in MGS3, twice, was a real pain in the a$$! No way I’m going to do it a third time.

Might pick this up eventually! I’ve been told it’s an amazing series (friend picked up the first 2 for PS2 and he’s been raving about it), and hopefully I’ll have some money to get them!

It’s such a great series! I was a bit disappointed to find out that 1 wasn’t remade, as it’s my favorite, but the others are good too. You may be a little lost without the history and backstory provided by Metal Gear Solid if you just start with the HD releases. Still wouldn’t pass it up though!
