Square Enix announces a recently revamped FF XIV

Today at GamesCom Square Enix announced that they had went back to the drawing board and completely redesigned the experience they had created for Final Fantasy XIV. Renamed Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, the Massively Multiplayer Online game centers on the theme of rebirth, with an entirely new adventure and world to explore.

A Realm Reborn is being developed for both Windows PC and Playstation 3 and is said to offer a game design that will “appeal” to both platforms. To me, it sounds as if the game may be going down the same road as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, in that the PC experience will not be optimized for PC play. I may be reading it the wrong way, but that is what it sounds like to me. What do you think?
